Kuressaare gymnasium

Kuressaare Gymnasium is the biggest school in Saaremaa, we have more than 1000 students. Saaremaa is an island in the Baltic Sea, not far from Estonian west coast. The population of town Kuressaare is 16,000.

Our school is situated in a beautiful scenery surrounded by a forest park. The schoolyard has been designed by the students. The graduates plant a tree in the schoolgarden every spring. The school grounds were awarded a prize for the best design on our town for 1995.

Our school is engaged in many international ecology projects: "European Air Pollution Project", "The Baltic Sea Project", "Coastal Observation" (we also have some other common projects - Estonian-Danish Business Programme etc.). An ecology laboratory is being established at our school.

Our contact persons are Reene Kanemägi (teacher of biology), Maidu Varik (teacher of civics) and Mr. Toomas Takkis (headmaster).
